Trentham Reads … a lot of crime novels!
Are you stuck for something to read? Books can be borrowed for free from the conservatory of Trentham Mews Medical Centre in Eastwick Crescent on Thursday afternoons between 1 and 4pm. This service, run by a small band of volunteers, is keeping reading alive in Trentham since the closure of the former Trentham branch library in Trentley Road in 2014.
The volunteers have loaned over 3000 books since the service began. They have noticed a bloodthirsty streak in Trentham readers, who show a marked interest in crime novels and thrillers. Volunteers are eagerly awaiting the construction of the new Trentham Community Learning Centre in the grounds of Trentham High School. Due to open in January 2018, there will be more books to choose from during two library sessions each week. Other activities, like story times for pre-school children, tuition for nervous computer users and knit and natter sessions, will also be on offer.
Drop in any Thursday afternoon for a warm welcome and a good book!
